28/12/06 - Morrish Builders and Conservation

The Company have for many years been involved in a carefully managed programme of heathland conservation and the attendant wildlife on two Sites of Special Scientific Interest.

Apart from forestry and timber production the two sites provide a unique habitat for many species including deer, birds (resident Dartford warbler, stonechat, owls are just a few) and osprey, hobby and nightjar among a variety of summer visitors.

Morrish Builders work closely with the RSPB and English Nature to ensure that the optimum environmental value of these important areas are maintained.

In recent days (April) woodlarks are appearing for the first time in many years on land that has been cleared of scrub, rhododendrons and small conifers. These birds are showing signs of nesting and if successful would mean a significant boost to a depleted population in south Dorset.

In the same way land and riverbank has been acquired and conserved as part of the Projecte Taronja development in Valencia, Spain whilst planting, landscaping and trees form an interesting part of many past and present developments.
